Ever since IG got rid of IGTV, there’s no way to discover new accounts that are going live.
I’m going to show you the best way to get around that. The only way to see if someone is streaming live is if you follow them. While the account you follow is live, you can discover other streams happening on the side of the screen, but otherwise there’s no *official* way to discover live streams from accounts you don’t follow, so here's what you can do: Swipe left in Instagram to start recording. Choose “Live” and press start. You can turn off your camera or cover it, but it’s only going to take a minute.
Press the paper airplane share button, type in your own username and send it to yourself. Now you can end and discard your live video. Then, go to your DM’s and open the message you sent yourself, and click “see more” to see everyone who's live whether you follow them or not!
The link eventually expires, but it only takes a few seconds to hit stream, share, end. So, until Instagram gets their shit figured out, this is the best option. You’re welcome!
